Marcella Freeland, 94, of Vandalia, died at 11:58 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church. Memorials: Friends and Families of Fayette County Hospital-Long Term Care.

 

Mrs. Freeland was born on Nov. 30, 1918, in Shobonier, the daughter of Earl and Olive Klinge Funk. She married Kenneth Freeland on Aug. 10, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo.; he died on March 7, 2004.

She was a beautician and homemaker, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia, where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member for 60 years.

 

She is survived by sons, Kent Freeland and his wife Mary Anna of Vandalia, and Jerry Freeland and his wife Mick of Peoria, Ariz.; grandchildren, Katie and her husband Lucas Filer of Vandalia, Kris Freeland of Vandalia, Ty Freeland and his wife Janetta of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jamie and her husband Joe Schwarz of Tempe, Ariz.; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Filer of Vandalia, and Lila and Elle Freeland, both of Phoenix, Ariz.
