William Dean “Bill” Wasmuth, 88, of Shobonier, IL passed away at 1:25 PM, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shobonier with Pastor Timothy Landskroener officiating. Interment will follow at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, September 24, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com William Dean Wasmuth was born on June 20, 1933 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Edward J. and Anna L. (Metzger) Wasmuth. Bill was a farmer; he grew up working on the Wasmuth family farm and did so until his retirement in 2012. He loved John Deere memorabilia; especially collecting toy tractors and literature. Bill also enjoyed collecting classic cars and competing in tractor pulls. He was a member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church; the International Edsel Club and the Edsel Owners Club- both organizations being dedicated to the friendship/diversity, enjoyment, preservation, maintenance, and promotion of the Edsel automobile. Mr. Wasmuth is survived by his daughters, Susan and husband Max Reuscher of Vandalia and Lori and husband Joe Forehand of Patoka; son, Edward “Ollie” Wasmuth and wife Traci of Shobonier; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Wasmuth of St. Peter; grandchildren, Doug Wasmuth and significant other Jill Martin, Carol Ann and husband Kyle McCollum, Lindsay and husband Jason Graumenz, Daniel Reuscher and wife Aubrey, Will Cowger, Brooke and husband Dakota White, and Wade Cowger; and great-grandchildren, Jarrett, Chloe, Dean, Jenna, Jaclyn, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Wasmuth; and brothers, Donald Wasmuth and Charles Wasmuth.
