Charlotte Ann Cripe

Charlotte Ann Brannon Cripe, 88, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 9:20 PM, Friday, June 03, 2022 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. James Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Brad Frye officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM- 11:00AM, at the church. A private burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. James Lutheran Church/Hand Bells or Second Chance Animal Rescue of Fayette County. Charlotte Ann Brannon was born August 23, 1933 in Vandalia, IL to Charles “Chick” Brannon and Ina Donaldson Brannon. She graduated from Vandalia High School and was married on October 6, 1950 to Robert Lee Cripe also of Vandalia. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage before his passing on July 22, 1997. In 1965 they officially opened Cripe Grain Company in Bluff City which is still operated today by their sons and grandsons. She was a lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church having served on many committees and on the Board as Treasurer for several years. Mrs. Cripe is survived by her children: Carole Green (Jack), Ken Cripe (Martha), Brian Cripe (Lisa) and grandchildren: Shawn Cripe (Brandi), Sarah Hill (Kam), Jacob Cripe (Emily), and Ben Cripe (Katy) and great grandchildren: Macy Cripe, Maddi Cripe, Thacker Cripe, Casyn Cripe, Asher Cripe, Demi Jo Cripe, Bennett Cripe, Jace Cripe, Kanon Hill and Sadie Hill. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and husband Robert.
