February 28, 1947 - June 16, 2022

Ebon K. Kinkead, 75, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 4:28 PM, Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 20, 2022 at Center Pointe Church, Vandalia with Pastor Rod Caswell officiating. Military Rites will be accorded at the church by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM, Monday, June 20, 2022 at the church. Following the funeral, cremation rites will be accorded with burial held at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorial donations may be made to Center Pointe Church. Ebon Kay Kinkead was born on February 28, 1947 in Knoxville, TN, the son of Thomas Edward Kinkead Sr. and Beulah Fern “Boots” (Lay) Kinkead. He married the love of his life, Mary Lee Smith on June 15, 1967. Together, they celebrated 55 years of marriage. Mr. Kinkead was a proud United States Army Veteran; serving in the Vietnam War and was now a retired over-the-road truck driver. Ebon had several hobbies in life. He had an avid love for camping, four-wheeler riding, race cars, and of course his poodles. More than anything, he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ebon was also a member of Center Pointe Church and Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kinkead of Vandalia; daughter, Tanea Lynn and husband, Douglas Ricketts of Brownstown; son, Thomas Kay Kinkead Sr. of Vandalia; sister, Barbara Jean “Bobby” and husband, Daniel Spargo of Burns Flat, OK; grandchildren, Colton Ricketts, Taylynn Ricketts, Thomas Kay “T.K.” Kinkead II, Levi Kinkead, and Chloe Kinkead; and great-granddaughter, Emma Kinkead. Preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Thomas Edward Kinkead Jr.; and sister, Beverly Ann Moran.
