Fran Rickman

January 28, 1960 - November 14, 2016

Frances Mary Rickman, 56, of Vandalia passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home in Vandalia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at First Church of God, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fayette County Cancer Fund or Evans Public Library. Frances Mary Rickman was born January 28, 1960, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Young) Cain. She married David Rickman on June 24, 1978 at Temple Baptist Church in Vandalia. Fran was a Mulberry Grove Alumni and received a Bachelor Degree in Organization Leadership from Greenville College. She was employed at Vandalia Community Schools as the Jr. High School Librarian Aide, she also worked part time at County Market in Vandalia. She was a member of Vandalia First Church of God, and Country Echoes Music Club. Fran’s driving forces in life were her faith and family. She loved sharing her passion for books with others, especially the kids she worked with through the high school and junior high. She also enjoyed helping others, which was evident through starting the Fayette County Cancer Support Group and helping with Relay for Life over the years and her involvement in the Fayette County Cancer Fund where she was on the Board of Directors and served as treasurer. She is survived by her husband Dave Rickman of Vandalia; sons Brad Rickman and wife Kass of Springfield and Tim Rickman and wife Jessica of Bloomington; granddaughter Clara Rickman of Bloomington; brother Gene Cain and wife Delores of Farmington, MO; sisters Nadine Downs of Granite City, IL and Mary Ellen and husband Steve Wood of Batesville, AR; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
