Frederick Willms

March 18, 1922 - September 18, 2014

Frederick Eiles Willms Sr., 92, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:04am, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, rural Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating.  Masonic Services will be held at 6:30pm, Monday, September 22, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church and visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Monday, September 22, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, rural Vandalia and 1 hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.  Burial will follow funeral service in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia, IL.  The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church or Rehoboth Baptist Church Camp. Fred Sr. was born March 18, 1922 in Otego Twp. Fayette Co. Illinois, the son of Harry E. and Fanny (Oberlink) Willms.  He married Nigal "Kay" Wright on September 9, 1994 in Pekin, IL.  He worked for Marathon Oil as a district manager for 38 years prior to retiring.  Fred was a member of the Vandalia Mason's Temperance Lodge#16; he enjoyed woodworking, making clocks, and all things nature related. Mr. Willms is survived by his wife Kay Willms of Vandalia; son Fred Willms Jr. and wife Renee of Vandalia; daughter Nona and husband Gene Beckman of Vandalia; son David Willms and wife Melissa of Brownstown; step sons Steve White and wife Dawn of Coffeen, Stan White and wife Cheryl of Auburn, and Scott White of Brownstown; brother H. Donald Willms and wife Ellen of Brownstown; sisters Mary Catherine "Toots" and the late Ben Ellicott of Morrison and Francis and husband Ron Washburn of Bluff City; Four Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren; Six Step Grandchildren; Three Step Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Willms, step grandchild Payton White.
