Rea Evans

April 3, 1918 - August 2, 2013

Rea Olyve Evans, 95, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Fayette County Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Peter Kolb and Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.  A visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Monday, August 5, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia and 1 hour prior to services Tuesday.  Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. Rea Evans was born April 3, 1918, in O'Fallon, IL the daughter of Fredrick O. and Oleeta (Rea) Leidel.  She married Charles "Warren" Evans Sr. on March 30, 1935 in Belleville, IL.  Together they had 5 children.  Rea was a homemaker and also she owned and operated fabric shops in Taylorville, Pana, and Vandalia.  She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Vandalia; American Legion Auxiliary Crawford-Hale #95; 8 & 40; Vandalia Women's Club and Vandalia Home Extension.  Mrs. Evans is survived by her son Walter "Walt" Evans and wife Tina of Vandalia, IL; daughter Tanja Rea (Evans) Ervin of Vandalia, IL; daughter-in-law Mary Evans of Vandalia, IL; sister Patricia Mayfield, Houston of TX; grandchildren Beth "Mari" and husband Mike Gilford of Pineville, LA; Charles "Chuck" Evans and wife Robin of Spaulding, IL; Stephanie and husband Jim Thomas of Ramsey, IL; Greg Evans of Vandalia, IL; Jeremy Easton of Longmont, CO; and Jason Easton and wife Becky, Chatham, IL; great grandchildren Jaden Evans, Mark Gilford, Steve Gilford, Emily Evans, Jace Thomas, and Ayla Evans; and step great grandchildren Asa "A.J." Thomas and Carson Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Charles Evans Jr. and Brad Lee Evans, daughter Rea Ella Evans; brother William Leidel; sisters Leeta Leidel and Charmion Mahl.
