Robert Lee “Bob” Berry, 82, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 10:50 PM, Tuesday, May 03, 2022 at his home. Per Bob’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Fund. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com Robert Lee Berry was born on December 01, 1939 in Sidney, Iowa, the son of Winfield and Roxie (Tanner) Berry. He married Shelley Beth Thompson on October 16, 1992; together they celebrated 28 years of marriage before her passing on February 15, 2021. Robert was employed by Purina; retiring after several years of service. After retirement, he became quite the handyman. Bob had an avid love for carpentry, painting, and just building in general. Throughout the years, he played in several pool tournaments, collected countless lighters and numerous records (including one of his favorites, Dolly Parton). Bob was just a simple man that lived life and cherished the time spent with his family and friends. Mr. Berry is survived by his sons, Craig Berry of Ballwin, MO, Rodney Berry and wife Marilyn of Fenton, MO, and Gauge Jarrett with Nicole Bridges of Vandalia; daughters, Carrie and husband Brice Summers and Tracy Evans, both of Vandalia; brothers, James Berry and David Berry, both of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Ethel Crawford of Hastings, IA, Evelyn Hurlburt, Daisy and husband Dave Malcom, and Judy and husband Manford Foster, all of Randolph, IA; grandchildren, Craig Berry Jr., Christine Ploudre, Lacey Merrill, Katlyn Evans, Justin Evans, Chase Evans, Dawsyn Evans, Jesse Evans, Colton Evans, Cheyenne Summers, Shelbe Summers, Cameron Summers, Lucca Bridges-Burkett, and Roo Bridges; and great-grandchildren, Lilliana Merrill, Aubree Merrill, Bailee Merrill, Makyla Merrill, Gabbriella Merrill, Britton Merrill, Jadalyn Tedrick, Rory Tedrick, Remington Evans, Mason Evans, Sawyer Evans, Paisley Summers, Avery Ploudre, Ariyah Corves, and Parklyn Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Blaine, Dwight, and Clyde Berry; infant sister, Dorothy Berry; and grandson, Britton Merrill.
