Agnes Rosemarie Rutherford was born on January 03, 1938 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Ollie M. and Charlotte (Guest) Rutherford. She married the love of her life, Everett A. “Bill” Walk Jr. on January 05, 1962. Together, they celebrated 33 years of marriage and raised two children before his passing on April 24, 1995.
Agnes began working at a kite factory at a young age to help out her mother after her father’s death. Each week her mother would give her a couple of dollars to go to the roller-skating rink, where she would eventually meet her future husband, Bill. After they wed, they moved from Decatur to Mulberry Grove, IL and later to Vandalia. As their children grew older, Aggie began working at Jay’s Inn in Vandalia, where she retired following her husband’s passing.
Aggie stayed very active well into her 80’s. She loved bowling with the Wednesday morning women’s league, playing BINGO at the Vandalia Moose Lodge and American Legion, where she was a member of the auxiliary, playing quilt BINGO once a month in Breese, and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Though she had many hobbies, she loved nothing more than to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Walk is survived by her son, Brian Walk and wife Amanda of Vandalia; daughter, Brenda Jondro of Aviston; grandchildren Christopher Walk, Tiffany Jondro, Laura Jondro, Jordan Walk, and Isabella Walk; great-grandchildren, Landon Walk and Easton Walk; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Jeff Jondro; brother, Walter Rutherford; and sisters, Doris Ross, Mary Bird, Virginia Rutherford, Betty Jones, Shirley Hicks, Phyllis Baldwin, and JoAnn Fickes.
