Alva Elder's Obituary
Mr. Alva Leon Elder, 85, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 9:01am,
October 12, 2012 at his home in Vandalia, IL.
A graveside service will be held for Mr. Elder at McInturff
Cemetery, Hagarstown, IL on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:30 am
with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating.  Military Rites accorded at
graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia,
IL.  A visitation will be held from 9-11 am, Wednesday morning
at Hohlt & File Funeral Home prior to graveside service. 
Memorials may be made to 2nd Chance Animal Rescue or VFW
Post #3862 Vandalia.
Mr. Elder was born July 29, 1927 in Mulberry Grove, the son of
Henry and Ollie (Jackson) Elder.  He married Reabert M.
(Diveley) Elder on January 31, 1946 in Vandalia, IL.  He
served in the US Army during WWII.  He was an avid fisherman
and loved playing cards with his family.
He is survived by his wife Reabert of Vandalia; sons Eugene
Elder and wife Phillis of Vandalia, IL, Danny Elder and wife Nina
of Lemont, IL, Randy Elder and wife Martha of Mulberry Grove, IL,
Michael Elder and wife Lisa of Vandalia, IL; daughters Jeanene and
husband John Lever of Plainfield, IL, Carmen and special friend
Levi Lape of Vandalia, IL; step son Harry Ellsworth of Sorento, IL;
sisters Mary Willing and Helen Bone both of Vandalia, IL; 16
grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great
grandchild.
He was preceded in death by parents; sons David and Stevie
Elder; 1 brother; 4 sisters
