Anna Lee Depew, 101, of Highland, IL, passed away on June 11, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Anna Lee Gillespie was born July 31, 1921, in Patoka, IL, the daughter of George and Cliffie (Lansford) Gillespie. She married James G. Depew on June 22, 1940 in St. Louis, MO; together they shared 41 years of marriage before his death on September 14, 1981.
Anna Lee worked at the PN Hirsch Warehouse in Vandalia and raised four children with her husband; she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia. Anna loved her family and taking care of them; she loved to cook and keep her home clean.
She is survived by her son, Larry Depew of Centralia; daughters, Ardith McFarland and husband Richard of Vandalia and Teresa Caldwell of Highland; many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Leidner; granddaughter Tara Noel McEwen; four brothers and three sisters.
