Annettia Harris-Van Valey's Obituary
Annettia Harris-Van Valey, 91, of Vandalia, passed away at
6:10pm, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Fayette County Hospital,
Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, July 3, 2015 at First
Pentecostal Church of Vandalia with visitation from 9:00-11:00am
prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in
Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.  Memorials may be made to the
First Pentecostal Church of Vandalia or the Tupelo Children's
Mansion, Tupelo, MS.  
Annettia was born June 22, 1924 in Vandalia, the daughter of
John F. and Nellie Z. (Gharst) Carpenter.  She married
Frederick Harris November 3, 1945 in St. Elmo, IL, he preceded her
in death December 3, 1994, she later married James Van Valey and he
preceded her in death on August 31, 2010.
Annettia worked as a telephone operator and then as a cook and
lunchroom supervisor for Vandalia Community School District. She
was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Vandalia and was a
member of the Ladies Home Extension Group and enjoyed getting
together and visiting with the other women telephone
operators. 
She is survived by her daughter Cassandra and husband Floyd
Tucker of Ashley; granddaughter Kelley and husband Troy Winegarner
of Centralia; great granddaughter Mariah Winegarner of Centralia;
and step great grandsons Brett and Dylan Winegarner both of
Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters Mary
Beck and Lila Watt.
