Bessie M Rhoades' Obituary
Bessie Mary Rhoades, 75, of Paducah, KY, formerly of Vandalia, IL passed away at 10:15pm Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, March 13, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia with Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Memorials may be made to Relay for Life or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bessie Mary Rhoades was born April 19, 1941 in Hope, AR, the daughter of Bessie and Frank Parton. She was raised by her grandparents James and Mary Mote after her mother’s passing. She was once employed by Crane Packing in Vandalia and by a group home in Salem, IL where she was a special needs aide. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia. Bessie was also a breast cancer survivor and loved to volunteer and participate in the Relay for Life. She also enjoyed spending time with her only daughter, Julia.
Ms. Rhoades is survived by her daughter Julia Meyer of Kevil, KY; son-in-law Robert “Jaycen” Meyer of Kevil, KY; twin sister Dessie Whiley of Chicago, IL; nephew Wayne Bryant and wife Kathy of Cleveland, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, four brothers, and one sister.
