Betty Brown's Obituary
Betty J. Brown, 91, of Vandalia, IL passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 at her home.
Per Betty’s wishes, a Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia with Rev. Pete Leduc and Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations may be made to Crown Point Church. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Betty Jane Fulkerson was born on January 22, 1934 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Grover Charles and Mina May (Stricklin) Fulkerson. She married the love of her life, David Warner Brown on November 11, 1952. Together they raised three daughters and celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage before his passing on September 12, 2015.
Betty was employed by the Law Group in Vandalia where she worked as a secretary/receptionist for 36 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia. Over the years, Betty enjoyed quilting and sewing; making numerous outfits and keepsakes. She loved nothing more than to catch up with her family and friends, especially through Facebook. Betty lived a full simple life, enjoying a glass of red wine every evening.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughters, Cindy Woolsey of Patoka, Beth and husband Larry Redman of Vandalia, and Kathy Draege with Will Baldock of Vandalia; sister, Dorothy and husband Harry Boyd of Marion; grandchildren, Sarabeth (Tom) Doyle of Lexington, KY, Tony Woolsey of Centralia, Lucas (Joanna) Redman of Brownstown, Zach (Chrissy) Redman of Coffeen, Blaine (Robyn) Redman of Fillmore, Alex Redman of Vandalia, Emalie (Shannon) Babb of Moweaqua, Michael (Brandi) Meyer of Vernon, Aaron (Emily) Draege of Vandalia, Jake (Emily) Draege of Farina, Colton (Paityn) Draege of Vandalia; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons-in-law, Randy Woolsey, Tony Draege, Butch Meyer; and 11 siblings.
