Betty Lou Philpot's Obituary
Betty Lou Philpot, 85, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 7:00 PM, Monday, March 01, 2021 at her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 04, 2021 at Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM-11:00AM, Thursday, at the church. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to Columbus Baptist Church.
Betty Lou Fisher was born on January 08, 1936, in Seminole, OK, the daughter of Birl Obra and Bessie Mae (Wright) Fisher. She married Donald J. Philpot on September 18, 1953 in Arizona; together, they raised four children and celebrated nearly 43 years of marriage before his passing on May 30, 1996.
Betty was most recently employed by Crane Packing where she was an inspector. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling all over the United States and even abroad to countries such as Ireland and England. When home, Betty spent her spare time playing cards and putting puzzles together. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
Mrs. Philpot was a member of the Home and Community Education Group of Fayette County and attended Columbus Baptist Church in Keyesport.
She is survived by her daughters, LaDonna and husband Danny Younker of Ramsey and Melissa and husband Kevin Elam of Vandalia; grandchildren, Melinda Younker, Jesse (Megan)Younker, Lauren (DJ) Palenchar, Josh (Ranada) Elam, and Jake Elam; and several great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Billy C. Philpot and Timothy J. Philpot; and brothers, Brock Fisher and Claude Fisher.
