Betty Garland's Obituary
Betty L. Garland, 89, of Vandalia passed away on December 22,
2013 at her home in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, December 27, 2013 at
Temple Baptist Church in Vandalia with Rev. Ed McCammack
officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 until time of
services. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore,
IL. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Health Department
Hospice 416 West Edwards Street, Vandalia, IL 62471.
Betty was born March 31, 1924 in Shafter Twp, Fayette Co. IL,
the daughter of Marvin Greer and Myrtle (Kastning) Greer. She
married Jack L. Garland on November 1, 1944 in Bingham, IL.
Together they ran several different businesses. She was a
member of Temple Baptist Church and Women of the Moose, she was a
past Senior Regent for the Moose.
Betty is survived by her husband Jack Garland of Vandalia;
daughters Doris and husband Gary Tate of Ramsey, Carol and husband
Chris Klitzing of Vandalia, and Judy and husband Aaron Jones of
Philo; sons Jack D. Garland and wife Melody of White Heath and Greg
Garland and wife Diane of Champaign; brother Henry J. Greer and
wife Larkie of Beaver Creek and Marvin Heather of Moweaqua; sisters
Elaine and husband P.R. Bunyard of Greenville and Donna Chrisman of
Vandalia; 13 Grandchildren; 4 Step Grandchildren; 19 Great
Grandchildren; 5 Step Great Grandchildren; and 6 Great-Great
Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother Georgia
(Brown) Greer; three brothers and one sister.
