Betty Hill's Obituary
Betty J. Hill, 91 of Vandalia passed away at 1:00pm, Friday,
January 2, 2015 at Fayette County Hospital.
A graveside service for Mrs. Hill will be held at 11:15am,
Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL.
Friends and family may gather from 10:00-11:00am, Tuesday, January
6, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home prior to the graveside
service. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's
choosing.
Betty was born September 8, 1923 in Loogootee, IL, the daughter
of Nelson L. and Clara Evelyn (Tarr) O'Dell. She married
Victor Hill May 29, 1947 in Ramsey; he preceded her in death
February 4, 2012. Betty worked at the Johnson, Stephens, and
Shinkle Shoe Co. and Heritage House in Vandalia, in their
retirement Betty and Victor babysat and cared for over 50
children. She was a wonderful woman, with a great sense of
humor.
Betty is survived by her sister Jerri Hadley of Ramsey, IL and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bud
O' Dell, sisters Mildred Stein, Ruby Sieben, Gladys Phillips and
Ilene Rose
