Billie "Bill" Hall's Obituary
Billie "Bill" E. Hall, 77, of rural Ramsey, passed away at
12:20pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center,
Springfield.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 14,
2016 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Doug
Wodtka officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 prior
to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be held in
Fairlawn Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be made to
the National Kidney Foundation or the family of Bill Hall.
Billie Eugene Hall was born May 19, 1938 in Vandalia, the son of
George W. and Gertie M. (Lipple) Hall.  He married Jennie L.
Bolyard on January 11, 1958 in Vandalia.  Over the years Bill
worked as the manager of Tri City Grocery until it closed in the
1970s, he worked maintenance and retired from Owens Brockway in
2001, and after retirement he worked for Napa Auto Parts in
Vandalia.  Bill was known for working on and restoring
vehicles, in the 1960s he was the only person in the area able to
work on Volkswagens.
Bill is survived by his wife Jennie Hall of rural Ramsey;
daughters Sherrie Smalls of Vandalia and Pam and husband Joe Potts
of Smithboro; son Greg Hall of rural Ramsey; grandchildren Michelle
McCray, Michael Smalls, Marcus Smalls, Jennifer Potts, and Courtney
Koski; great grandchildren Trevor Smalls, Evan Smalls, Mahlia
Smalls, Marissa Smalls, Maci Smalls, Isaac Cole, and Jacob Koski;
and sisters Bessie Jones and Jane Hall both of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Valerie Hall,
brothers George Hall, Bruce Hall, Walter Hall, sisters Marie
Thompson, Cleo Card, and Vivian Sarchet.
