Robert “Bob” Duckworth, 71, of Vandalia, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 03, 2025, at Hohlt & File Funeral Home with Rick Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Evans Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Following the services, family and friends are welcome to gather at Bob's lake lot for a potluck. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Sons of Service- H.I.S.K.I.D.S. Charity or Evans Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Robert Gerald Duckworth Jr. was born on April 21, 1954, in Evansville, IN, the son of Robert Gerald Duckworth Sr. and Marion Aline (Dunnagan) Forbes. Throughout the years, Bob held various jobs, including operating the Ridge Road Hog Farm, working at Buehne Sand & Gravel in Keyesport, driving a semi, farming, and commercial fishing. Bob was a down-to-earth, unique, and happy-go-lucky man. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, riding his side-by-side, and enjoying a cold one at the lake with his many friends.
Bob will forever be remembered by his daughter, Shannon Tate with Rodney Lape of Vandalia; daughter, Amber Weischedel and husband Jake of Vandalia; sister, Debbie Wodtka and husband Dennis of Bingham; sister, Becky Pryor and husband Randy of Vandalia; grandchildren, Courtney Womack and husband Chaston, Michelle Sussenbach, and Gabriel, Dakira, Greyson, and Taurean Weischedel; great-grandchildren, Charleigh, Carter, and Cortlyn; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
