Mrs. Bonnie L. Donnals, 91, of Vandalia passed away at 2:40pm, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Fayette County Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Vandalia with Rev. Fr. Zachary Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in Mother of Dolors Catholic Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am, prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mother of Dolors Catholic Church Funeral Dinner Fund or Caring and Sharing.
Bonnie Donnals was born April 3, 1927 in Shobonier, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Hallie Blankenship Zimmerman. She married Neil F. Donnals on December 17, 1949; he preceded her in death on August 8, 2000. Bonnie was previously employed as a telephone operator, and worked in the administrative offices at Fayette County Hospital; she was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, where she organized funeral dinners for many years. Bonnie also had a love for the St. Louis Cardinals, playing bridge and participated on the Hohlt & File Funeral Home bowling team.
She is survived by her children, Linda (David) Kelch of St. Charles, MO, Jackie DuPlayee of Vandalia, Cheryl Sasse of Vandalia, Nancy (William) Haney of Friendswood, TX, Brian Donnals of Vandalia, and Brett (Jennifer) Donnals of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Mathew (Shelly) Kelch, Michael (Erica) Kelch, Christopher (Stephanie) DuPlayee, Andrew (Molly) DuPlayee, Jascha (Derek) Nestrick, Chelsa (Mike Schulte) Sasse, Marc Sasse, Alex Sasse, Kelly (Courtney) Haney, Kimberle (Keith) Koester, Hallie Donnals; and great grandchildren Max and Sam Kelch, Christian, Faith, and Justice DuPlayee, Preston, Kendall, and Sydnee Nestrick, Chandler Sasse, Gracie Pruett, and Joshua Cassidy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Donnals; grandson, Tim DuPlayee; two brothers and six sisters.
