Carla Runkel Vasquez's Obituary
Carla Marie Runkel Vasquez, 49, of Vandalia passed away on
Friday, April 1, 2016 at her home.
She was born June 25, 1966 in Omaha, NE, daughter of Carl A. and
Edith (Stevens) Runkel. Carla married Joel Fox June 22, 1985,
they later divorced and she married Jacob Vasquez April 15,
2004. He preceded her in death February 22, 2015.
Carla graduated high school in Rantoul, IL; she worked at
Wal-Mart in Effingham and later at Graham Packaging. She
enjoyed working on counted cross stitch and needlework, watching
movies and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by her parents Carl and Edith (Stevens) Runkel
of Vandalia; son Robert Fox of Vandalia; daughter Samantha Fox of
Ft. Collins, CO; 2 grandchildren; brothers Steven Runkel and
wife Kena and Shawn Runkel and wife Naomi all of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, and
niece Nicole "Nicki" Runkel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, April 16,
2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with Sidney Hutchison officiating.
