Carol Grubaugh Smith's Obituary
Carol Kay (Grubaugh) Smith, 70, of Vandalia passed away at
11:50am, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
Services will be held at 3:00pm,Saturday, February 21, 2015 at
Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Kent "Pee Wee"
Denton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm,
Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home,
Vandalia. After services have concluded Carol's body
will be cremated per the family's request. Burial will be
held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Evans
Public Library.
Carol was born February 11, 1945 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter
of John "Harry" and Lucile (McClary) Grubaugh. She was
married to Daniel Smith, he preceded her in death. Carol was
a homemaker, raising her and Dan's son Adam, and in her free time
she loved to read.
Carol is survived by her son Adam Smith and wife Amanda of rural
Shelby Co. IL; grandchildren Karlee, Brody and Brantly Smith all of
rural Shelby County, IL; special nieces and nephew Judy Pieper and
Will of St. Elmo, Cathy and Kermit Parsons of Danville, Barbara and
Mike Hotwick of Decatur, and Gary Evans of Decatur; and many more
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother
Harold Grubaugh, and sister Donna Deetz.
