Charlene Lawler's Obituary
Charlene Lawler, 93, of Belle Manor Nursing Home, New Carlisle
passed away at 6:45 AM, on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Born on May 1, 1918 om Wheatland Township, Fayette County, near
Vandalia, IL, she was the daughter of Harry and Zella (Swarm)
Pummill.  She married LeRoy Lawler on July 10, 1937 in St.
Louis, MO.  He preceded her in death in 1987.  Mrs.
Lawler lived in Illinois for many years, then in Kansas, where she
worked for 14 ½ years as a doctors assistant at the Medical Center
in Lyon, KS.  She moved to La Junta, Colorado after her
husband's death then moved to Ohio in 2005.   She was a
member of the First Baptist Church in New Carlisle, Ohio.
She is survived by daughters Joyce Swofford of Sterling, KS;
Judith and husband Mark McCery of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son
Kenneth Lawler and wife Dolly of St. Paris, Ohio; 12 grandchildren,
24 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.  Mrs.
Lawler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister June
Smith, daughter Janice Spangler and grandsons Judson and Frank
Lawler.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 6-8PM,
in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street,
Saint Paris, Ohio.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00
AM, Friday, April 20, 2012 at Union Cemetery, Vera, IL with the
Rev. Ernie Flowers officiating.  Hohlt & File Funeral Home
in Vandalia are in charge of arrangements.
