Charles Walter Leidner Sr., 69, of Vandalia passed away at 9:34 AM, Friday, October 13, 2017 at his family home.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Leidner will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Pratt Cemetery, Patoka, IL with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:00-11:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the Family of Charles Leidner Sr.
Charles Walter Leidner Sr. was born on January 14, 1948 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Fred Leidner and Erma Gean (Shepard) Cole. He was married to Lana Darlene Garmon; she preceded in death on July 22, 2017. Charles was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member Columbus Baptist Church and Crawford Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia.
He is survived by his sons Charles William Leidner of Vandalia, Karl Leidner of Clinton, Indiana, and Charles Walter Leidner Jr. of Vandalia; daughter Charanda Leidner of Mulberry Grove; sisters Brenda Leidner and Judy Bone; brothers Mike Leidner, Danny Leidner, and Jeff Cole; and also his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lana, son Billy Jack Leidner, and brothers David Cole and Donnie Leidner.
