Chris Coburn (Durbin) Mars, 53, of Vandalia, passed awayat10:48
PM, September 2, 2012, Fayette County Hospital ER.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mars will be held at
10:00am, Friday, September 7, 2012 at Mother of Dolors Catholic
Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Havrilka officiating, burial will
follow in Mother of Dolors Catholic Cemetery, Vandalia. A
Vigil will be held at 5:00pm, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Mother
of Dolors Parish Hall (across from church). Visitation will
be held 5-8pm, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Mother of Dolors
Parish Hall (across from church). Memorials may be made to
Mother of Dolors Catholic Church or Our Sorrowful Mother's
Ministry.
Chris was born August 9, 1959 in Vandalia, the daughter of Bob
F. Durbin and the late Jean (Coburn) Durbin. She married
Michael Mars on October 1, 1977 in Vandalia. She worked at
Crane Packaging for 18 years before she decided she would be a stay
at home mom, once the kids were older she went back to work as a
cook at Vandalia Elementary School. Chris was a member of Mother of
Dolors Catholic Church; Our Sorrowful Mother's Ministry; Council of
Catholic Daughters; Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1447. She
loved being around family and friends and helping others, she also
enjoyed horseback riding.
She is survived by her father Bob F. Durbin and wife Eva;
husband Mike Mars; son John Mars and fiancé Kelcey Elder; son Seth
Mars and special friend Courtney Tinker; daughter Jordan Mars and
special friend Zackary Betti; grandson Aiden Elder all of Vandalia;
brother Max Durbin and wife Debbie of Grantsville, UT; brother
Scott Durbin and wife Kathy of Owaneco, IL; Father and Mother in
law John and Elizabeth Mars of Tulsa, OK; brother in laws John Mars
and wife Sherri of Jenks, OK, Rob Mars and wife Pam of Olathe, KS,
and Mark Mars of Colleyville, TX; sister in laws Beth Conrad of
Colleyville, TX, Pam and husband John Vogt of Tulsa, OK, Kathy Mars
and friend Alvin Atkinson of Tulsa, OK, Martha Mars of Tulsa, OK
and Jane and husband David Penuel of Broken Arrow, OK; Nephews and
Nieces Matthew Durbin and wife Lisa; Adam Durbin and wife Kylea;
Joni and husband Jeremy Forson; Eric Vogt; Miranda Mars; Nathan
Mars and fiancé Alexis; Ashton McClulley; Jacob Penuel; William
Penuel; Great Nephew and Nieces Chandler, Dathan, Lizzie Forson;
Alex and Madeline Conrad; Ava Mars.
She was preceded in death by her mother Jean (Coburn) Durbin and
nephew Matthew Conrad.
Per the wishes of Chris and her family her body was
cremated.
