Clarabelle Olmstead's Obituary
Clarabelle Olmstead, 87, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 9:07 AM, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at SBL Fayette County Hospital LTC.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, May 20, 2024 at Farmer’s Cemetery, rural Shobonier with Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00AM, Monday, at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Clarabelle Leininger was born on October 14, 1936 in Vernon, IL, the daughter of Jasper and Clara N. (Caudle) Leininger. She married Elvin D. Olmstead on December 24, 1958. Together, they celebrated nearly 48 years of marriage and raised three sons. He preceded in death on October 01, 2006.
Clarabelle worked in housekeeping at Fayette County Hospital; retiring after 36 years of employment. She was a member of the First Apostolic United Pentecostal Church of Ramsey. Clarabelle was a devout Christian, often reading the Bible. She also enjoyed completing puzzle books and listening to music. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Olmstead is survived by her sons, Brad Olmstead, Terry Olmstead and wife Norma, and Steven Olmstead, all of Vandalia; step-son, Dale Olmstead and wife Sheri of Wichita, KS; step-daughter,
Rosemary Burgett of Vandalia; 7 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lewis Leininger; and sisters, Genevieve Mattix and Bertha Mobley.
