Craig Steven Kagay, 68, of Vandalia, passed away on October 11, 2024 at the Vandalia Rehab and Healthcare Center.

Craig Steven Kagay was born December 17, 1955, in Amboy, IL the son of Donald R. and Janice C. (Gridley) Kagay; he is one of seven children. Craig followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Navy October 30, 1974; after serving 4 years, he was promoted to SM2 and honorably discharged October 29, 1980. He moved to California where he loved to spread the word of God and completed a certificate to be an ordained minister. Craig eventually moved to Vandalia where his parents had previously settled and started a new chapter in his life. Craig was the welcoming face behind the counter at the Mach 1 Gas Station in Vandalia; this is where he made many friends. He will forever be remembered by his Mach 1 family and customers.
His survived by his siblings, Shiela Ford, Paula Owens, Gaila Roper, Jeff Kagay, Kelly Kagay, and Scott Kagay; many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
