Dean Walton's Obituary
Burl Dean Walton, 90, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:26am,
Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his home.
Services will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Hohlt
& File Funeral Home with Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. 
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral
home.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia with
Military Rites accorded at graveside by Crawford-Hale American
Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL.  Memorials may be made to
Crown Point Church or Fayette County Health Dept. Hospice.
Dean was born April 8, 1926 in Vandalia, the son of John William
and Laura Elizabeth (Garland) Walton.  He married Rotha L.
Reavis on February 24, 1953 in Ramsey.  He served in the US
Navy, worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local #520 out of
Granite City and was a member of Crown Point Church and Vandalia
American Legion Post #95.  Dean loved fishing and anything
outdoors, he didn't have biological children of his own but he was
a father figure and uncle to many in the community. 
 
He is survived by his brother Kenny Walton and wife Bev of
Vandalia, sisters Margaret Aldridge of St. Elmo, Sue Gilmore of
Staunton, and Joy Orr of Vandalia, nephew Jay "Butch" Reavis and
wife Sharon and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and
John Walton, and sister Marcella Bauman.
