Deborah "Dixie" Merrill's Obituary
Deborah Ann "Dixie" Merrill, 64, of Brownstown passed away at
her home on March 28, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, April 1, 2014
at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia with Rev. Pete LeDuc
officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until time
of service. Memorials may be made to Friends & Families
of Fayette County Hospital.
Deborah was born August 19, 1949, in Vandalia, the daughter of
James and Shirley (Sperry) Curry.
She worked at Fayette County Hospital for over 25 years before
she retired. Deborah enjoyed writing poetry and was well
known for her homemade fudge. Deborah wrote a poem for many
of Fayette County Relay for Life events and some her poetry is also
displayed at the hospital where she worked.
Deborah is survived by her son Mike Merrill of Brownstown and
friend Deborah Wright of Altamont; granddaughter Lacey Merrill of
Vandalia; grandson Britton Merrill and Jessie Newberry of Ramsey; 5
great granddaughters; sister Marcia and husband Verlin Haslett of
Florida; brothers Tom Curry and wife JoAnn of Brownstown and John
Curry and wife Leasa of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
