Debra Carpenter's Obituary
Debra S. Carpenter, 59, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on the morning of Saturday, June 24, 2023 at her home.
Per Deb’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. Interment will take place in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Debra Sue Holman was born on August 12, 1963 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Frederick “Leon” Holman and Loretta Pearl (Hissong) Holman. She married Rodger Keith Carpenter on August 30, 2002. Together they celebrated nearly 21 years of marriage.
Deb worked various jobs throughout the years. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, employed by Majestic Drapery, and eventually retired as a bartender; working at V.F.W. Post # 3862. Deb had a wonderful presence and a smile that lit up a room. She loved crafts, wrestling, her jewelry, and most of all, spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.
She will be forever remembered by her husband, Rodger Carpenter of Vandalia; daughters, Tasha & husband James Davis of Brownstown, Melissa Guffey of Vandalia, and Ashley & husband Robert Lee of Effingham; grandchildren, Ethan Koonce and Sara Koonce, both of Vandalia; sisters, Brenda Lorton & significant other Doug Newburn and Penny Buie, both of Beecher City; brother, Doug Holman & wife Denise of Altamont; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
