Debra J. “Debbie” Pruitt, 73, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 08, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A Private Graveside Service & Interment will take place in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Debra Jane File was born on August 16, 1951 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Lester F. and Jarraline M. (Baldwin) File. Debbie was a teacher’s aide for the Vandalia Community School District for several years; retiring in 2011. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, reading, sudoku puzzles, and most of all, spending time with her daughter and granddaughters.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie and husband Chris Kershaw; brother, Tom File and wife Sidney; sister, Diane Tippitt; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Kershaw and wife Kirsten and Ashlyn Kershaw with Matthew Hobler; all of Vandalia; nieces, Brooke File-Miller and Ashley and husband Scott Prange; nephews, Michael Walker and wife Karen and Chad Walker and wife Carrie; and her beloved feline companion, Willow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Melissa Pruitt and Laura Pruitt; and a sister, Linda File.
