Denning Dwight's Obituary
Dwight Lewis Denning, 92, of Vandalia passed away at 4:59pm,
Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Vandalia Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Funeral Services to honor Dwight and his wife Darlene will be
held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hohlt & File Funeral
Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation
will be held from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service Saturday.
Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Memorials may be made
to Vandalia Rehab & Healthcare Center Activity Fund or Fayette
County Relay for Life. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in
Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Dwight was born July 2, 1922 in Farmersville, IL, the son of
Lewis Elmer and Susie Elizabeth (Bethards) Denning. He
married Darlene May Eckhardt on June 4, 1944, she preceded him in
daeth on February 22, 2015; together they farmed and raised two
sons. He was affiliated with Luster Chapel in rural Vandalia
and as a hobby Dwight restored 60 antique tractors.
He is survived by sons David Denning and wife Sue of Vandalia
and Howard Denning and wife May of Vandalia; brother Ralph Denning
of Washington, IL; sister Mary Alice Moore of Vandalia; and
grandsons Nathaniel Denning and wife Michelle of Vandalia and Jon
Denning of Pontoon Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Anna
Jarrett.
