Donald Earl Willis' Obituary
Donald Earl Willis, 78, of Vandalia, IL passed away at his home near Vandalia, IL, March 2, 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 6, 2017 at McInturff Cemetery, Hagarstown, IL. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Hohlt and File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Donald Willis was born February 25, 1939, the son of Roy and Bessie Mae (Bolyard) Willis. He married Norma Jean Holman on April 18, 1959; she preceded in death October 25, 2012. He retired from Caterpillar as a tool handler. Donald was a member of the Vandalia Moose Lodge #1447 and loved farming, tending to his cattle, deer hunting, gardening, and having breakfast at the Mulberry Grove American Legion.
He is survived by his sons Gary Willis and wife Annie of Hillsboro, Larry Willis and Robin Steinkamp of Vandalia and Todd Willis of Vandalia; daughter Jodi and husband Jim Winkler of Altamont; sisters Betty Willis and Doris Lamkey; grandchildren Bryan Henna, Jake Willis, Nathan Willis, Josh Willis, Troy Winkler, and Sam Willis; step grandchildren Jay Webster, Xenna Webster and Kailey Winkler; great grandchildren Aireona Willis, Ethan Willis, Garret Willis, Mia Willis, Alex Hollowell and Cory Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Francis, and brothers Jim, John, and Raymond.
