Donald Grubaugh's Obituary
Donald Clarence Grubaugh, 82, of Vandalia, passed away at
9:12am, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home in Vandalia.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, July 22, 2013
at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia with Rev. Pete LeDuc
officiating, burial will follow in MacInturff Cemetery, Hagarstown,
IL. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday, July
21, 2013 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia.
Memorials may be made to Bond County Hospice or to Crown
Point Community Church.
Donald Grubaugh was born May 22, 1931 in Vandalia, the son of
Clarence "Babe" and Eva (Koonce) Grubaugh. He enlisted in the
US Army and served during the Korean War. He married Shirley
Hatfill on August 4, 1956 in Vandalia and together they had 3
daughters. She preceded him in death on February 25,
1996. He later married Mary Cable on February 1, 2004 in
Vandalia. She preceded him in death on January 22,
2013. Donald worked at Crane Packing in Vandalia and was a
member of Crown Point Community Church. He was a St. Louis
Cardinal fan and enjoyed listening to country and gospel music.
Mr. Grubaugh is survived by his 3 daughters Rose and husband
Michael Mathis of Springfield, MO, Carolyn and husband Dale
Harbison of Vandalia, and Shelly Ledbetter and fiancé Will Baldock
of Vandalia; grandchildren Jade Ledbetter, Josh Ledbetter, Jennifer
Melton, Catie Smith and Zach Smith; great grandchildren Christian
Melton, Haley Smith, Caden Melton, Parker Smith, Triston Smith,
Zoey Smith, and Jadelynn Eddy; brother Larry Grubaugh of Vandalia;
and sister Doris and husband Robert Brule of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first and second wife,
and sisters Elrena Rathbone, Josephine Adams, and Lucille Ray.
