Donald McCain's Obituary
Donald W. McCain, 88, of Vandalia, passed away at 12:45am,
Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at Fayette County Hospital Long Term
Care.
Services for Mr. McCain will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, July 8,
2016 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Pete
LeDuc officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to
services. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery,
Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Donald was born December 23, 1927 in rural Vandalia, the son of
Clayton and Mary (Boaz) McCain. He married Janet L. Hoffman
October 15, 1955 in a double ceremony along with his brother Floyd
and Janet's sister Carolyn. Floyd worked and retired as a
machinist for Caterpillar.
He is survived by his wife Janet of Vandalia; daughter Barbara
and husband Kevin Gallagher of Vandalia; brother Morris McCain and
wife Marjorie of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Kelly Gallagher, Leigh
Bible, and Sean Gallagher; and great granddaughter Nyssa Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd and
Kenneth, sisters Evelyn, Dorothy, and Doris.
