Donald Walker's Obituary
Donald E. Walker, 82, of Shobonier passed away at 2:14am,
Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home in Shobonier.
Services for Mr. Walker will be held at 10:30am, Friday, May 8,
2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Rev. Jerry
Bagwell officiating. Visitation will be held from
5:00-7:00pm, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church,
Vandalia and 1 hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with military rites
accorded at graveside by Crawford-Hale Vandalia American Legion
Post # 95 and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Memorials may be
made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Donald Walker was born April 4, 1933 near Mattoon, IL, the son
of Sammie and Mary Ellen (Sanders) Walker. He married Judith
"Judy" A. (Johnson) Walker on March 19, 1971 in Vandalia.
Donald served in the US Air Force. After his military service
he worked as an Illinois State Police Trooper, was the owner and
operator Walker Trucking and Walker Communications, and former
farmer also raising cattle, pigs, and horses, he was a member of
Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Judy Walker of Shobonier; sons Donald
Shawn Walker and wife Sharon of Louisville, KY and Kevin Guthrie
and wife Rita of Shobonier; daughters Cynthia and husband Mike
Lagle of Colorado Springs, CO and Elizabeth Walker of St. Louis,
MO;6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, daughter Sondra Jo Walker
and 1 granddaughter.
