Doris Goatley's Obituary
Doris J. Goatley, 83, of Decatur, IL formerly of Vandalia, IL
passed away at 12:39pm, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at St. Mary's
Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Services for Mrs. Goatley will be held at 11:00am, Monday, July
28, 2014 with Rev. Robert Weaver officiating at Hohlt & File
Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held two hours prior
to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in
Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.  Memorials may be made to Special
Olympics IL or to First Baptist Church of Vandalia.
Doris was born January 20, 1931 in Pope Township, Fayette Co.
IL, the daughter of Amon J. and Mary E. (Lake) Steiling.  She
married Melvin L. "Squirrel" Goatley December 24, 1948; he preceded
her in death on June 26, 1994.  Doris worked at Johnson,
Stephens, and Shinkle Shoe Co. for 25 years and later for Owens
Brockway in Vandalia, she loved quilting and volunteered in the
church nursery for several decades. 
She is survived by her son Jim Goatley and wife Jill of Decatur,
IL; granddaughter Julia and husband Matthew Danbury of Macon, IL;
great grandsons Brayden and Elijah Danbury, both of Macon,
IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and
sisters Lula Mae Williams, Loretta Schade, and Bernice
Summers.
