Doris Kern's Obituary
Doris Elaine Kern, 80, of Vandalia, passed away at 7:54pm,
Monday, August 5, 2013 at Fayette County Hospital.
Services for Mrs. Kern will be held at 10:00am, Friday, August
9, 2013 at the First Pentecostal Church in Vandalia with Rev.
Daniel McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor
Cemetery, Pittsburg, IL. A visitation will be held from
9:00am until time of service Friday at the church. Memorials
may be made to the First Pentecostal Church of Vandalia.
Doris was born September 23, 1932, in Muskegon, MI, the daughter
of Perry Edward and Marie Louise (Delmoulin) Davis. She
graduated from Mulberry Grove High School and then married Calvin
Dean Kern on August 4, 1949 in Morganfield, KY. She worked at
John Crane Packing in Vandalia for 26 years before retiring.
She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in
Vandalia.
Mrs. Kern is survived by her children, son John David Kern and
his wife Cathy of Champaign and daughter Rebecca Marie "Becky" and
her husband Paul Schaub of Brownstown; grandchildren Holly Wasmuth,
Clint Kern, Katy Kern, Elizabeth Kern, Staci and her husband Jay
Carroll, John Schaub and his wife Jacy, and Mark Schaub and his
wife Erin; great grandchildren Alex Wasmuth, Emily Wasmuth, Kelsi
Wasmuth, Daylea Kern, Elijah Kern, Brooke Kistler, Jonathan Carroll
and his wife Kali, Nathaniel Carroll and his wife Lauren, Courtney
and her husband Aaron Sapp, Nathan Schaub, Cade Schaub, Mason
Schaub, Cole Horner, Levi Schaub, and Jacob Schaub;
great-great grandchildren Ella Carroll, Clara Carroll and Calin
Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers
and 1 sister.
