Ellen Kleiman's Obituary
Ellen L. Kleiman, 74, of Vandalia, IL, formerly of Norwood, OH, passed away at 3:39 PM, Thursday, August 03, 2023 at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center Activity Fund. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Ellen Louise Garratt was born on October 13, 1948 in Canandaigua, New York, the daughter of Charles and Margelia (Chase) Garratt. She married Louie Lucero in 1967, they were married 20 years and raised four children before they separated in 1987; he preceded her in death in 2001. She married William R. “Bill” Kleiman in the early 1990’s; he preceded in death in December of 2016.
Ellen was a woman of all trades; having several different types of employment throughout her life. In her younger years, she was an amazing seamstress. Ellen also loved to bake. Her family liked to joke, “She’s a great baker but not a great cook.” In her later years, she enjoyed crosswords, word puzzles, and watching her soap operas.
Mrs. Kleiman is survived by her sons, Lou Lucero & wife Virginia of CA and Charles Kleiman of OH; daughters, Sarah Lucero, Karen Brake & husband Bret of NY, Colleen Fender & husband Aron of IL, and Jessica Kleiman of OH; grandchildren, Matthew Lucero, Lilly Fender, Lenna Fender, Alexander Lucero, Kayden Kleiman, Nova Kleiman, and Violet Kinsella; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and siblings, Charles, Ida, Carrie, Jean, Mary, Darlene, and her twin, Ethel.
