Erma Farley's Obituary
Erma "Topsy" Farley, 85, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 10:15am,
Sunday, December 28, 2014 at her home in Vandalia.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, January 2,
2015at the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia with Rev.
Terry Westerfield officiating. Visitation will be held one
hour prior to services at the church. Burial to follow in Fairlawn
Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Memorials may be made to the Evans
Public Library or First United Methodist Church of
Vandalia.
Erma was born September 4, 1929 in Eldorado, IL, the daughter of
Gratton and Helen Hill. She married Russel Farley July 2,
1950 in Champaign, IL. Mrs. Farley was a former principal and
school teacher at Union School in Northern Illinois, and retired
from Vandalia School District in 1991 from teaching 1st
and 2nd grades at Washington Grade School. She was
a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist
Women, serving on various committees, member of the Retired
Teachers Association, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and
Nice Twice Clothing Store.
She is survived by her husband Russel Farley of Vandalia;
daughters Linda Kelly and Cathy Silva both of Vandalia; grandsons
Scott Kelly with Jessica Stovall of Dunwoody, GA, Marc Kelly and
wife Michelle of Vandalia, and Anthony Silva and wife Jennifer of
Vandalia; great grandchildren Andrew Kelly, Sean, Lucy and Jack
Silva all of Vandalia; sisters Teny Ponce of Maryville, IL, Sue and
husband Itchy Jones of Champaign, IL, and Rae "Bill" Cain of
Eldorado, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
