Ethel Jackson's Obituary
Ethel Marie Jackson, 98, of Vandalia, passed away at 10:35pm,
Friday, February 14, 2014 at Fayette County Hospital Long Term
Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Thursday,
February 20, 2014 at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia
with Rev. Fr. Barry Harmon officiating.  Visitation will be
held from 9:00-11:00am, Thursday, February 20, 2014 prior to the
service at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Vandalia.  Burial
will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ramsey, IL.  Memorials may
be made to Mother of Dolors Catholic Church or Memorial Masses may
be made.
Ethel was born May 5, 1915 in Assumption, IL, the daughter of
Edward J. and Minnie Mary (Brule) Cocagne.  She married Floyd
James Jackson on February 25, 1936; he preceded her in death on
February 10, 1976.  Ethel and Floyd had nine children
together.  She was a member of Mother of Dolors Catholic
Church; CCW Council of Catholic Women; Catholic Daughters of the
Americas; and Vandalia American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children, sons Jim Jackson and
Pat of Vandalia, Robert Jackson of Altamont, Mike Jackson and wife
MaryAnn of Franklin, TN, and Dan Jackson of San Bernardino, CA;
daughters Betty and husbandWayne Hathaway of Vandalia, and Janet
and husband David Tendick of Philo; daughter in law Patty Jackson
of Vandalia; 26 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 20
great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons Larry
Jackson and Tom Jackson; daughter Beverly and her husband Nelson
Holbrook; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
