Filbert Meseke's Obituary
Filbert A. Meseske, 92, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 7:05 pm,
Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital Long Term
Care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Wed., April 4, 2012 at
Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with Pastor Peter Kolb and Pastor Jerry
Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery,
Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service at

Mr. Meseke was born on December 27, 1919 in Shobonier, son of
Charles and Lydia (Melchow) Meseke. He married Dorothy Bertha
Elizabeth (Gehle) Meseke March 31, 1940; she preceded him in death
August 3, 2011. He was a self employed farmer; a member of
Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing softball as a
pitcher for the Lutheran Softball teams, he also loved to fish and
hunt.
He is survived by son Harvey Meseke and wife Alice, Shobonier,
IL; daughters Marilyn Truitt and husband John, Shobonier, IL, Patsy
Coughlin, St. Elmo, IL, Jody Osborne and husband Terry, Vandalia,
IL; grandchildren John Truitt Jr. and wife Gina, Mike Truitt and
wife Brandy, Jason Truitt, Lisa Smith and husband Lee, Wade Meseke
and wife Loretta, Sandra Kleinik and husband Dennis, Rhonda
McCaslin and husband Dan, Troy Walker and wife Hannah, Tony Walker,
Taylor Osborne and wife Candace, and Tyler Osborne and wife Ashley;
great grandchildren Shea Garrison, Tanner Nielsen, Jacob Truitt,
Grace Truitt, Chase Truitt, Shanna Stewart, Rachel Kleinik, Shelby
Kleinik, Alex Kleinik, Jacob Smith, Krystal Elam and husband Clint,
Renee Smith, Logan Smith, Heather Meseke, Erin Meseke, Waylin
Meseke, Kylee Meseke, Zachary McCaslin, Morgan Walker, Reagan
Walker, Lakken Walker, Tayten Walker, Jadyn Osborne, and Conner
Osborne; great great grandchildren Alyssa Wiseman, Melody Smith,
McKinna Kleinik, and Hunter Wiseman.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife; brothers Elmer, Hugo,
and Erlich Meseke; infant brothers Elwin and Eldor Meseke.
