Frances Bannister's Obituary
Frances Bannister, 100, of Effingham, formerly of Vandalia, died
at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Lakeland Rehab &
Healthcare Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hohlt &
File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with the Rev. Kurt Simon officiating.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will
be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of
Vandalia.
She was born March 22, 1912, in Vandalia, the daughter of Lenn
Harris and Sarah (Davis) Cullen, both deceased. She married Thurlow
H. Bannister on Oct. 31, 1931, in Clinton, Ind. He preceded her in
death April 22, 1999. She was a Kindergarten teacher for over 20
years in the Vandalia Community School District. She was a member
of First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia and Retired Teachers
Association.
Survivors include a sons, Larry Bannister and wife, Phyllis, of
Clever, Mo., Bruce Bannister and wife, Judy, Effingham; six
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchilren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
