Francis A. “Sam” Stratman III, 86, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 11:55 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at home.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, cremation rites will take place. There will be no services held at this time. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Campbell, MO at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
Francis A. Stratman was born on March 16, 1933 in Glennonville, MO, the son of Francis A. “Frank” and Bernadine (Schweitzer) Stratman Jr. He married Elwanda Scott. Sam was an auto mechanic for the Ford dealership located in Naperville, IL. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post#95, Vandalia.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Stratman and fiancé, Marcia of Vandalia; daughters, Darlene and husband, Jack May of Montgomery and Wanda and husband, Jim Tate of Watertown, WI; brother, Donald Stratman of Strasburg; sister, Melba Ferguson of Strasburg; and grandchildren, John May, Jason May, Jim Tate Jr. Mallory Tate, Frances Stratman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Terry Michael, Connard, and Charles; and brothers, Leon, Joseph, and Billie.
