Fred Tessman's Obituary
Fred L. Tessman, 72, of Vandalia, IL, passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at his home.
Per Fred’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Tuesday, June 04, 2024 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Interment will be held at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice. Fred Lee Tessman was born on February 28, 1952 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Ernest Lee Tessman and Joyce Ilene (Powers) Kwedras. Fred spent 26 years with Sharla Halford, though they never married.
Fred was a proud Military Veteran; having served in the Unites States Marine Corps. He was the former owner of the Full Moon Bar & Grill in Vandalia; operating it for 30 years and was currently employed by TDS Trucking as a truck driver.
Fred was very set in his ways and often a story teller, he loved conversing with his many bar patrons, often listening and sharing his own life lessons. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues and hockey in general; holding season tickets for games that he and Sharla would attend. Fred enjoyed evenings out playing league pool or golden tee with his buddies and had a love for gardening.
He is survived by his son, F. Kegan Tessman and wife Olivia of Vandalia; significant other, Sharla Halford of Vandalia; granddaughter, Gracie Tessman of Vandalia; brother-in-law, David Willms of Brownstown; extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Tessman; and sister, Melissa Willms.
