Garry "Squeak" Crane's Obituary
Garry L. “Squeak” Crane, 81, of Vandalia, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at SBL Fayette County Hospital.
Per Garry’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 31, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with Pastor Dustin Ruble officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia, at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Family of Garry Crane. Online condolences can be expressed at hohltandfilefh.com.
Garry Lee Crane was born on December 13, 1943 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Virgil Louis and Eloise V. (Jarrett) Crane. He first married Janet (Larimer) and together they had a son, Kent. Garry later married Shirley (Grisham); she preceded in death on February 14, 1998.
Squeak was an over the road truck driver employed by various companies throughout the years. He was an avid guitar player and singer. Garry, along with his siblings, formed a band called “Garry and the Sunlighters”; in which he got to pursue his passion for music.
He will forever be remembered by his son, Kent Crane of Wyoming, MI; sister, Carolyn McDowell of Ramsey; sister, Judy Dothager of Vandalia; nieces and nephews, Kenny Dothager, Eric Dothager, Ronnie McDowell, Randy McDowell, Leila Miller, and Sheila Tippen.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Virgil “Tommy” Crane and Larry M. Crane; and a sister, Shirley Hoffman.
