George Eugene Richards' Obituary
George Eugene Richards, 83, of Vandalia passed away at 3:52pm, Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home in rural Vandalia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Overcup Baptist Church, rural Vandalia with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Wilberton Cemetery, rural Shobonier, IL with military honors by Crawford Hale American Legion and Brownstown VFW.
George was born March 12, 1933 in Vandalia, son of George W. and Sophia N. (Abendroth) Richards. He married Betty Yarbrough June 6, 1953; she preceded in death September 7, 2008. He later married Wilma (Lofland) Richards on March 20, 2011. He and Wilma ran Richards Wood Products. George served in the US Army and was a member of Haley Chapel in Bluff City.
George is survived by his wife Wilma of Vandalia, daughters Skotricia and husband Jack Paschall of Floral City, FL and Janet and husband Daniel Christianson of Brandon, FL, step children Susie Collier, Lora Richards, Mike Richards, and Jackie Richards, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brothers Virgil Richards and wife Diane, Jack Richards and wife Judy, Phillip Richards and wife Phyllis and sisters Ruth and husband Tom Rigdon, Joyce and husband Al Cahoon, and Donna and husband Chuck Boggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son Kenny Richards, sisters Nellie Elmore and Norma Richards, and brothers Harold Richards Sr. and John Richards.
