Georgia D. (Gaylor Bone) Krause, 85 of Vandalia, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 08, 2025.
Per Georgia’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Georgia Dorine Gaylor was born November 09, 1939 in Habersham, TN, the daughter of Kenneth Walden and Marie “Sally” Gaylor. She moved to Vandalia in 1948 when her mother, Sally married William Yarbrough. Georgia then wed David Lee Bone in 1958; they were married for 20 years and raised five children. In her younger years, Georgia was a homemaker taking care of the children. At the age of 40 she started her career as a respiratory therapist. She was employed by Fayette County Hospital as well as St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham. She later married Roger W. Krause on May 08, 1980; together they shared 40 years of marriage before his passing on August 12, 2020.
Georgia was a strong woman who fulfilled many roles in life; she was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and caretaker. Georgia was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed shopping, genealogy, and looking at photographs from over the years. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Bone of Vandalia; daughter, Bonnie and husband Jim Barr of St. Petersburg, FL; son, Mark Bone and wife Caroline of Omaha, NE; son, Matthew Bone and wife Jana of Mt. Juliet, TN; daughter, Lisha Clary of Vandalia; sisters, Shirley Davison of Lincoln, Shelby Lawler of Decatur, and Tanya Jackson of Urbana; 18 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Walden; mother and step-father, Marie “Sally” and William Yarbrough; husband, David Bone; husband, Roger Krause; and a sister, Charlotte Bone.
