Geraldine Eula "Gerri" Heather, 87, of Oblong, IL formerly of Vandalia passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Ridgeview Care Ctr. in Oblong, IL.
A private graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Ritter Cemetery, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Memorials may be made to Ritter Cemetery.
Geraldine Eula Heather was born December 13, 1932 in Vandalia, the daughter of Floyd and Goldie (Frailey) Ritter. She married Thomas Monroe Heather on November 11, 1947 in Mississippi; he preceded her in death on July 22, 1997. Geraldine was a homemaker, former member of the First Assembly of God Church in Vandalia, and member of the Vandalia VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Mindy Swaner of Robinson; bonus daughter, Kim Knapp of Robinson; grandchildren, Mandy, Beth, Nathan, Tyler, and Tahnee; great grandchildren, Kyle, Kylen, Bryson, Adam, Kalen, Kayla, Iyla, and Nolan; step granddaughter, Debbie; and step great grandchildren, Nicole, Brady, Jacob, Chasten.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Marshall “Buzz” Heather; daughter, Mitzi Anderson; brothers, Gale Nawerth, Bert Ritter, and Robert Ritter; sister, Shirley Pruett; and step granddaughter Tammy.
