Glenn Bowen's Obituary
Glenn I. Bowen, 94, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:30pm,
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Greenville,
IL.
Services for Mr. Bowen will be held at 10:00am, Saturday,
January 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, IL with
Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Harrison
Cemetery, Patoka, IL. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm,
Friday, January 18, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia,
IL and 1 hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Harrison Cemetery or Fayette County Relay
for Life.
Mr. Bowen was born April 6, 1918 in Sandoval, IL, the son of
Irvon and Matilda (Terry) Bowen. He married Genevieve Bryant
December 12, 1938 in St. Louis, MO and she preceded him in death on
July 17, 1984. Mr. Bowen worked for the Standard Oil Company
as a distributor and was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Vandalia, IL.
He is survived by sons Leon Bowen and wifePatty of Vandalia ,
Dean Bowen and wife Cheryl of Vandalia , Jim Bowen and wife Mary of
Vandalia, Bob Bowen and wife Ann of Keyesport, IL; daughters Carole
and husband Jim Gueterloh of Hoffman, IL, Barbara Snyder of
Bloomington, IL, Sharon and husband Ron Thomason of Vandalia, IL,
Susan and husband Steve Murfin of Salem, IL; brothers Ray Bowen and
wife Bonnie of Salem, IL, Roy Bowen of Kinmundy, IL, Don Bowen and
wife Virgina of Texas, Larry Bowen and wife Lavon of Alma, IL;
sister Irma Peterson of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 25 great
grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife Genevieve, son Gerald Bowen,
brothers Eldon, Leo, and Burl Bowen, sister Helen Moody, 3
grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
